With many years of experience in recruitment. TEMP-TEAM is one of the most popular agencies in Singapore – big enough to deliver, small and local enough to be present.
Prepare your CV
Writing a good CV takes time, but it is worth it. Remember that the purpose of your CV is to convince a potential employer that you are the right person for a role.
Make sure your CV is typed and well structured
Keep it brief and to the point – maximum two pages
Make sure you tailor your CV to each vacancy
List contact details and profile at the top, then professional experience/career history
Use sub-headings; Education, Career history, Professional qualifications, etc.
List your most recent employment first
Highlight aspects of your previous roles, which relate to your skills
Focus on what benefits you brought to that organisation and key achievements in the roles
Consider how many personal details you want to give – you don’t have to reveal your age, marital status, or whether you have children.
Before the interview
READ & PREPARE YOUR ANSWERS
Visit the company’s website, where you get important information about what is valued and highlighted as important. Prepare for common questions such as strengths / weaknesses, how to react to stress, what made you search for this job, what are your expectations, etc.
BE ON TIME
Be on time and make sure you have a little margin if, for example, the bus is late or it’s hard to find parking.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS
First impressions are important, so make sure that you are well groomed and your attire is appropriate for the business you are going to visit. Remember to turn off your mobile.
During the interview
THINK ABOUT YOUR BODY LANGUAGE
About 80% of all communication takes place via our body language. Therefore, make sure to:
Give a firm handshake
Make eye contact with the interviewer
Avoid sitting with your arms crossed
Lean forward and show interest
BE ACTIVE & ASK QUESTIONS
Make an active impression by asking questions and showing an interest in both the company and the job, you have applied for.
DO NOT TALK BADLY ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS WORKPLACE
Rather tell them why you have applied for the job and what you find interesting and attractive.
ANSWER THE QUESTIONS & DO NOT FORGET TO LISTEN
Avoid long discussions and complicated explanations. Answer the question asked and await supplementary questions. If you are unsure about a question ask them to repeat it or ask for further explanation.
